Torque Wrenches
Torque wrenches have a gear mechanism on the head that allows the wrench to rotate freely in one direction without removing the wrench head from the fastener and repositioning the wrench. This ratcheting action allows torque to be applied to fasteners in tight spaces. Wrenches can be set to apply a specific torque to a fastener so that the fastener is not damaged by overtorquing or becomes loose over time due to undertorquing.
